Grayson lost his 7th baby tooth on November 13th! That brings the total to four bottom teeth and three top teeth gone, though only three permanent teeth have grown in so far. This one came out right before bedtime, so he was extra excited for the night’s visit from the tooth fairy.

I finally got around to ordering some quality ground beef online—the main ingredient for our delicious homemade cheeseburgers.

Sylwia officially joined the mid-forties club, and in less than a month, I’ll be reluctantly joining her. To kick off this unwelcome milestone, I stopped by a local flower shop first thing in the morning after dropping the boys off at school. Later that morning, we received a long-awaited package from Babcia in the States, filled with kids’ books, toys, clothes, and coffee I had ordered. The timing was perfect for Sylwia’s birthday, though, unfortunately, there was no birthday present for her. As soon as she realized this, she immediately called Babcia to raise her concern—knowing full well that we are seven hours ahead in Poland and it was only 4 a.m. back in the States. We all laughed about it later, agreeing that birthday presents are really for kids—and at our age, we’re just too old for them.

Later in the day, before picking the kids up from school, we drove to Bochnia near Kraków to pick up some sushi. A few weeks ago, we had discovered a restaurant in the mall in Tarnów near the kids’ school, tried a couple of rolls, and decided to order from them for this special occasion. The reason for the 45-minute drive to Bochnia instead of the closer mall location was that this branch has a larger menu and more variety.

We made it back just in time for me to drop Sylwia off at home before heading out to pick up the kids. On the way back, I took the boys to the flower shop inside the mall so they could choose a flower for Mom’s birthday. When we finally got home, they proudly presented the flowers and wished her a happy birthday. Grayson even brought home a watermelon painting he made at school. And of course, almost immediately, they started eyeing the package from the U.S. with all the goodies inside—but that would have to wait until the next day.

After the kids went to bed, we finally dug into the sushi. A happy birthday.
