After about a month and a half of settling into our new condo in Tarnów, it felt like the right time to take a short trip to Saint Martin’s Peak — or Góra Świętego Marcina. This popular hill, located southeast of Tarnów’s center and partly within the city limits, marks the northern edge of the Carpathian Foothills. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city and a peaceful escape not too far from home.

Only in Poland can you stumble upon Polish sausages casually hanging at the local mall.

We also had our first guests at the condo — Wujek and Ciocia stopped by for a drink and some snacks, and we all enjoyed a cozy afternoon of conversation and laughter.

Another “first” was getting our custom living room curtains finally installed after about a month of waiting. We can now sleep a little longer in the mornings without the sunrise pouring in. The curtain tracks had already been installed during the condo’s finishing stage, and the boys’ blackout blinds — along with a set for the kitchen — should be arriving soon. If there’s one thing we’ve learned here, it’s that good things take time.

We also scored a stylish glass map of Europe from Merlin (Poland’s version of Lowe’s or Home Depot) and hung it in the living room with help from Sylwia’s uncle Zbyszek. It turned out great.

One of our last visits to Pingwinek before they close for the season — hands down, still our favorite ice cream spot in Poland.

Fresh haircuts for the boys.

A comforting bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup at Wujek and Ciocia’s house hit the spot. A few days later, the boys got to experience digging up potatoes in the garden — hard work, but they happily traded their labor for tractor rides and fresh raspberries.
