It all started the night before, when Sylwia ironed Grayson’s crisp new dress shirt and laid out his outfit for the big day. Pasowanie na ucznia — which translates to “Fitting in as a student” — is a beloved Polish tradition that officially welcomes first graders into the school community. The ceremony includes a solemn oath and the symbolic “tapping” of each student with a large, magical pen or quill, marking their official start as real students. In preparation, the children also learned a few songs and memorized a short passage of traditional verses, which they proudly recited together in front of the crowd of parents.

It’s a special milestone — one that makes the kids feel proud, grown-up, and part of something bigger. Grayson had been practicing his lines all week and did great in front of the crowd. His part of the oath went:
“Przynoszę zimowy wiatr, I śnieżne kryształki. Nauczę was cierpliwości I piękna prostoty.”
Translated:
“I bring winter wind and snow crystals. I will teach you patience and the beauty of simplicity.”
He recited it with confidence — maybe a little nervousness — but mostly pride. It was one of those sweet, full-circle moments that mark the start of a brand-new chapter.

The ceremonial oath was led by the school’s Director and owner, Pani Patrycja Gąsiorek.

Proud and happy first-grade class of 2025 / 2026.

While Grayson was off celebrating with his first-grade class, Damianek was downstairs busy having his own fun with Grupa Konwaliowa, his preschool crew.
