We ordered our custom blinds back in August, and patience was definitely required. About a month later, they finally came to measure, and another month after that, installation day arrived. It was a long wait, but totally worth it — these things are awesome. Custom-made, slim, and sleek. The kitchen got the regular version, while the boys’ room received blackout blinds so the early morning light doesn’t wake them too soon. They weren’t cheap, but the quality feels top-notch — time will tell how well they hold up.

Sylwia’s uncle Zbyszek came through with a farm-fresh chicken connection, which also took about a month to fulfill. When we finally picked them up, we portioned and froze them right away — not before making a big pot of chicken noodle soup, of course. Five enormous birds, each nearly the size of a turkey at around 6.5 pounds, just barely fit into our little freezer.

The boys and I took a trip to pick up a package from Marzena — a thoughtful house-warming gift of a new kitchen knife set we really needed.

First homemade bowl of chicken noodle soup: done and delicious.

We also picked up a couple of shelving units for the basement storage. Everything looks neat and organized now, with plenty of room to spare.

Park Strzelecki.

We discovered a beautiful nearby forest preserve, Rezerwat Lasy Radłowskie — a perfect spot to stretch our legs. Fall is in the air; the leaves are starting to turn and drift down, and the whole place has that golden Złota Jesień glow.

Carrot-picking time — a family effort all around.

Then this happened — a pair of robot vacuums arrived at the condo. The smaller one is staying with us, and the larger one is heading to Marzena’s place in Grajewo.

A few days later, we drove up to Grajewo for an extended weekend. I put together a firepit using stones we found around the property, and we enjoyed our first cozy bonfire there — complete with beer, sausages, and good company. Artur and I also stocked up on firewood from a relative down the road.

Marzena’s tiramisu was the perfect send-off before our departure the next day.

Back in Tarnów, we stopped by the cemetery for fall cleanup ahead of All Saints’ Day (Wszystkich Świętych) — a national holiday in Poland on November 1st honoring the saints.
